Day Twenty Two

As much as I appreciated Daniel providing me with a spot for my trailer, I had no electricity, water, wifi or sewer so today I was hoping we could get the power and wifi situation resolved. Fortunately, I still had 30 gallons of fresh water on board for washing.
Daniel is an early riser so he had already left for his town "office" at the Starbucks coffee shop by the time I woke around 8:00 am. We had agreed to meet there at 10:00 so this way I could have my morning coffee, I could finish my daily blog from the day before and we could plan our first day together.
Before leaving I was able to successfully level the trailer out and disconnect my truck. Here is a photo I took of the crazy steep hill I had to negotiate the night before in pitch darkness.

After breakfast, I drove into town and met up with Daniel. Once logged into the Starbucks network I got to work on my blog while Daniel conducted business on his computer and shared some conversation with some of his many friends who frequent the coffee shop.
With all the distractions my business took much longer than planned so now it was early afternoon and we decided to walk over to the Whole Foods grocery store and serve ourselves some lunch at their salad bar. The gloomy start to the day had blossomed into a glorious warm sunny one as the marine layer slowly burned off.
Daniel feels a lot of pride in the town of Sebastopol and wanted to take me on a little walking tour through some of the new businesses that were springing up such as craft breweries, hotel complex and open-air coffee shops. It's a very vibrant community surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards that has embraced the Liberal culture in every way.
Daniel also wanted to take me out to the coast which was way closer than I'd expected, only twenty minutes away. I had to pick up some groceries first and then we were on our way to Bodega Dunes Campground. The campground was full of RV's and tent campers all enjoying the beautiful view and the cool ocean breeze.

The nearby marina was jammed with a mixture of pleasure boats and big commercial fishing rigs.

Next stop along the coast was Bodega Head and the Sonoma Coast State Park.

Daniel requested that I add a disclaimer to this photo of him that noted that he was being photographed under protest. At least he had on his hat.

Here's a short video that should help you experience a little of the magic of this place.

Daniel has been coming out here for the past 20 years and was excited to take me to his favourite little Fish-n-Chip restaurant for dinner. The fish was delicious and went very well with a nice cold bottle of Corona. I'm not much of a beer drinker but that beer was very refreshing.
This shot was taken as we arrived back at my camp spot next to the hill from RV hell.

There was still plenty of daylight left as we drove back into town so Daniel and I were able to find an electrical outlet and a very long extension cord so we could get the trailer all powered up. We also messed around with the wifi hoping we could tap into his landlady, Lynda's network but couldn't get the password right.
Daniel had brought some interesting Swiss cheese and the night was still young so we opened a bottle of red wine and sat in my dinette sharing the bottle and some pretty rowdy conversation.
Once the bottle was done so were we so it was off to slumberland.
