Day Twenty Seven
I was up working on my blog when Nicole appeared, bleary-eyed, as she had an early morning doctor's appointment. She made us a cup of coffee and started getting ready when Giacomo appeared.
After Nicole had left Giacomo prepared me some scrambled eggs and fruit for breakfast.
For the past week I'd been running around with only one headlight working on the truck. Since these fancy LED bulbs were still under their one year warranty I had contacted the company and they had shipped me out a new bulb. The package was scheduled to deliver some time that day so I didn't want to leave until it had arrived.
Giacomo had a "reread" to do at the studio at 1:30 so I stayed back waiting for the package. It arrived around 2:00 so I texted Giacomo to tell him I'd be leaving for the studio to pick up my trailer and I'd be on my way. He waited for me and gave me a hand hooking up so I was cruising down the 110 toward Hawthorne by 3:00.
We'd had such a great time together that it was tough leaving their company but alas, it was time to move on.
I had contacted my buddy, Duncan Williams, a former Honda employee, and we had planned for me to stay a few days with him before heading back east. He now works in sales for an insurance company and had mentioned that Monday would be a very busy day for him and that we should plan on meeting at 6:00 pm after he was done for the day. Not having anywhere else to go I drove to his place and figured I would just read a book until he arrived.
As it turned out he drove up at 4:30 so not much of a wait. He lives in a trailer much like mine which is parked inside a warehouse compound owned by his former employer, Eagle Rider. This international company rents motorcycles to tourists and they were kind enough to let me park my rig next to his complete with water, electricity and wifi.
Certainly not the glamorous camp setup but it's a perfect way for me to visit a friend without really imposing too much.
Duncan, at one point in his life, was a chef. Whenever he prepares a meal it's always done with a little flair, nice variety of colour etc. We wound up having a pizza but even it was awesome. Maybe I was just hungry and enjoying seeing my longtime friend from another life but it was a wonderful time just telling stories and catching up on the past couple of years.
Tomorrow we are going to visit the famous Peterson Automobile Museum because they have a new exhibit.
