Day Twenty Six
I woke up very excited about the day ahead. Giacomo had arranged to borrow a friend's Harley V-Rod so that we could ride up to the famous Rock Inn together. Giacomo has his own bike but we needed another one for me.
Since "It never rains in southern California" it promised to be another glorious sunny day with a light breeze blowing off the cool Pacific waters. In other words, a perfect day for a ride.
We had to drive to his friend's place to pick up the bike which meant that I had to ride over there on the back of Giacomo's.
This plan to go for a ride had been hatched back before I left home so I had packed all my riding gear.
Here we were just about to suit up.
Nicole was not joining us so she took the following video as we rode off.
This was our route so it was a nice combination of high speed freeway driving up the I-5 and then the fun began. The pavement wasn't in the best shape but the road was one windy son of a gun.
Not having ridden very far up the twisties, we stopped at a scenic overlook for a photo opportunity. In the background is Lake Castaic which is a man made reservoir.
I was so happy to be back on a bike again on such an amazing road. It was so much fun riding with Giacomo.
We pulled into the Rock Inn and joined the row of bad ass bikes parked in front.
This is actually a full functioning inn as well as an awesome biker bar and hangout. In this photo you can see the rooms are up on the second floor. Here is a shot of the interior.
Neither of us had any breakfast so we ordered a bottle of their local craft brew and a great big juicy bacon cheeseburger with fries. There were lots of people, conversation and even live music while we ate. It was a real slice of Harley heaven. We ate our lunch and then went upstairs to their open air patio to just hang out and watch the bikes coming and going down below. It's a great spot for "people watching".
It was time to leave so it was back on the bikes and down the mountain.
While we were out tearing up the asphalt Nicole was shopping for the BBQ we had planned to have as a kind of send off dinner for me.
The evening couldn't have been better as we dined on their rooftop patio under the stars. I will miss these two people. They have both been so kind and generous and truly welcomed me into their lives.
