Day Twenty Five
Each morning I wake up, look out the window and see nothing but mist. It's the same here in Los Angeles.
Giacomo and Nicole live up in the Hollywood Hills overlooking the city far below so you have this panoramic view of the valley.
Here are the same two pics later in the day.
It's so vastly different from where I live and so interesting the way homes have been constructed so precariously perched on the surrounding hillsides. I'm really hoping to experience a sunset from this lofty vantage point before I leave.
We all had a bit of a lie in being Saturday morning. I got up first and took advantage of the time alone to work on my blog. Giacomo had joined a baseball team of other people in the entertainment world and they had a practice at 10:30 am. I continued to work away while he got ready and Nicole prepared some coffee and breakfast for us.
Up until now I hadn't spent much time getting to know Nicole so after Giacomo had left we had some time to talk a bit about our lives and share some stories.
We had all been invited to a pool party over at a friend's place in Sherman Oaks so when Giacomo returned we piled into the car and headed over to the party. Our host lived in a nice quiet neighborhood and had a beautiful swimming pool that took up almost the entire back yard. Giacomo was born in Rome, Italy and is fluent in Italian to this day so many of his friends are also Italian. Lots of conversations went over my head because they would sort of break into Italian as English was their second language and not as comfortable. They had really gone all out with food, drink and even a DJ friend whose choice of tunes was perfect for such a party. Here's Nicole trying to somehow stay dry in her party dress.
Here's Giacomo sporting a Toronto Blue Jays ball cap.
This guy was an artist on his mixing board and created the the perfect party mix.
These photos don't really show much of what was going on but people were drifting in and out as the afternoon wore on and of course the kitchen was the usual gathering place. Only a few people actually got in the water but I had a wonderful time meeting some of their friends. One guy worked as a technician at SpaceX and is building a rocket that will go to the moon and ultimately to Mars. Another guy, our host, does arial photography and works for NASA and also does his craft within the film industry.
I had been nibbling on food all afternoon so when we left the party around the dinner hour I really wasn't hungry. On the way home we stopped at a California style fast food restaurant for a quick snack as Giacomo and Nicole still felt a bit peckish.
Once back at the ranch so to speak we went out on their upper deck with a bottle of wine and chatted the night away under a stunning full moon. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
