Day Sixteen (71st Birthday)
Not wanting to sleep in for fear of missing Erin's departure this morning I had set my alarm for 7:00 am.
I had some breakfast, got dressed and was out the door by 8:40 on my way over to pick up Erin. Traffic wasn't bad at all for a city this size (pop. 639,863) during morning rush hour.
I helped Erin tidy up a bit and we were off to the airport. It was sad leaving her off because we had such a great time together but she will be coming up to Bracebridge for Christmas in a few months so not that long a wait till next time.
Today one of my goals was to get my cable TV working because I really wanted to watch the football game this evening. I had a nice new coax cable and spent way too much time trying to sort things out but in the end, my persistence paid off and I was able to access the park cable network.
On top of that, I was finally able to connect to the park's wifi network using my signal booster antenna so now I can stay current with my blog again.
Fortunately, it was a bit cooler today with a slight breeze and the air was less hazey.
I needed to get out of the trailer and had a few things to pick up at the store so off I went. You know how sometimes you get hit with a sudden and urgent desire for a certain kind of food. Well, for me, I was hit with the PIZZA BUG and absolutely had to have one for dinner that night. Not being familiar with the area, I googled a pizza store and found Papa Murphy's Pizza nearby. After placing my order I went outside and found a nice shady spot in their parking lot to wait the twenty minutes I knew it would take to complete my order. When I went back in my pie was all ready and sitting on the counter waiting for me. It wasn't in the traditional box but covered in a thick layer of plastic wrap and as I picked it up I realized that it was not cooked. They saw the confusion in my face and explained that they made the pizza but I was meant to take it home and bake it. I felt like a dummy but took it back to the trailer and fired up my oven for the first time. A short while later I was relaxing with a vodka tonic and taking in the evening news on TV when my smoke alarm came on. The only way I could continue cooking without the alarm blaring in my ear was to remove the battery from the alarm. The oven worked very well and the pizza was "delish".
In the midst of all this, I got a call from Cavan and Angie wishing me a happy birthday which was just what I needed at that point in my evening.
As stated earlier I wanted to get my cable working so I could enjoy Thursday night preseason football but I had forgotten about the three hour time difference so when I flipped the game on it was already in the fourth quarter.
All in all, it was a very good day and now I can look forward to my next seventy-one years on this planet.
